BOOK GROUPS
AFTERNOON READERS
All group members select the books to be read. Everyone reads the same
book for discussion at the monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of
the month at 1:30 p.m. One member facilitates the group discussion.
WOMEN OF WORDS
All group members select the books to be read. Everyone reads the same book for discussion at the monthly meeting on the second Monday of the month, with one member facilitating the discussion.
FRIDAY BOOK DISCUSSION
All group members select the books to be read. Everyone reads the same book for discussion at the monthly meeting on the second Friday of the month, with one member facilitating the discussion.
CINEMA
Meets the first Monday at 1 PM to select movies for the month, in members’ homes. We go to the Angelika theater. We often go as a group to a movie the second Monday, with lunch afterward. For the other movies chosen, we are on our own to see if we wish. We discuss all the movies the following month.
Cinema 2
The group meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a matinee followed by a discussion in a restaurant. Prior to each meeting the group votes by email on five movies showing at Angelika, Landmark, Hillcrest. Or Edwards Mira Mesa. Coordination of movie selection, carpooling, and restaurant reservations are on a rotating basis.
Couples Book Club
Couples meet on Friday at 7:00 p.m., every six weeks to discuss various books selected by members of the group.
Great Decisions
The group meets on the second Tuesday afternoon of the month to
discuss issues facing our country based on guidance from the
Foreign Policy Association
Needlecrafts
The group meets the second Wednesday of the month to share
needlecraft experiences. Instruction is available to members who would
like to learn to knit.
Let’s Do Lunch
The group meets on the first Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m.
at various restaurants in the area. A different hostess chooses the
restaurant each month. This is a great way to meet new members
and socialize.
Lunch Travelers
The group meets every other month on the 4th Friday to have
lunch at various restaurants in the area which may require more
travel time than the other lunch group. A different hostess

Mahjongg
Mahjongg games are scheduled on the second, and fourth Tuesday morning of each month and on the third Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Participants may choose to play 1, 2 or 3 times per month and/or to substitute. Hosting is rotated among players.
Mystery Book Club
All group members suggest mysteries to read. Everyone reads the same
Book for our monthly discussions on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Facilitating and hosting are on a rotating basis.
